Naturopathy, or Nature cure, encompasses a variety of natural healing methods which aim to ease symptoms, restore vitality and

prevent future recurrence of illness.  

 

        Key therapies used by naturopaths include Herbal medicine, Homeopathy, Nutrition, Flower Remedies and touch/manipulation                   therapies such as Massage and Osteopathy.  When used in appropriate combination, these methods can offer a

multi-pronged approach to healing, working on your mind, body and spirit both internally and externally.

  A holistic approach to the client is fundamental, and so I believe it is necessary to look at all aspects of lifestyle to discover where

any imbalance present in the system has arisen from.   

THE ORIGINS AND PRINCIPLES OF NATUROPATHY

The Greek philosopher Hippocrates believed in looking at the whole person in order to find the cause of disease:

"It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has."

The Principles of the Hippocratic School of Medicine from around 400BC are the essence of Naturopathy today:

* The healing power of nature

*Identify and treat the cause

*Do no harm

*Treat the whole person

*The Naturopath is a teacher

*Prevention is the best cure
